Manipulating Scale to Challenge Perspectives
Scale is the comparison of us to our environments. When we manipulate the standard scales of buildings and sites, new possibilities are revealed. This was explored through Photoshop, which allowed for realistic renderings of buildings to be created. The context of the site was a small rocky boulder, but by embedding a small building into the image, the scale changed significantly to accommodate for the new comparison material. Another example is if we were to shrink to the size of an ant. A patch of grass would turn into a huge forest, completely changing how the site is perceived. Therefore by adjusting the scale of people to the site, an entirely new perspective can be gained.
